SINGAPORE

”Nothing can communicate as much as an image and every image tells a magical story of a moment in time”.
This discovery attracted Daniel Yang from Electra into the world of photography. On most weekends, Daniel is always camera-ready, capturing interesting things around him, may it be children, people or places.
His keen interest has driven him to gather extensive photography knowledge, experimenting with various types of photography techniques, styles and equipment. Daniel has also assisted in a few of the Group’s photography projects. (You might have seen his work on Morus or on websites.)
Daniel is currently exploring studio portraits to obtain a deeper understanding in managing lighting to create stunning pictures.

MALAYSIA

Malaysia colleagues get to hear from two external photography hobbyists George Ong and Tan Lip Heong.
George Ong enjoys capturing candid moments of family and friends and passionate about wildlife photography especially birds as he finds it challenging and unscripted. He patiently waits quietly for hours, hidden behind trees and bushes just to get that perfect shot.
George has also conducted photography workshops for major photography events in Malaysia and was one of the panel judges for DGcolor Photo Festival 2009 Photography Competition and Boiler Room Photography Contest.
George’s camera equipment: DSLR Nikon D300, Lens: Tamron AF 200-500mm Di LD (IF), Nikkor 500mmF4 + 1.7x teleconverter, Tamron 17-55mm with studio lights boom, cube diffuser, gooseneck clamp, Nikkor 50mm (F1.2, F1.4, F1.8), Nikkor 85mm F1.8, 70-200 f2.8 and Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX & Tamron 17-55mm both F2.8.
Currently, George is into capturing curios in macro mode and experimenting with portraits including reporting events where lighting conditions are not exactly ideal, and portraits with desired pose, moods and angles under controlled lighting conditions.

As for Tan Lip Heong, his main passion is bird photography. In fact, he inspired George to take up this challenging subject initially.
The photography hobbyist is also interested in scenery and nature including spontaneous family snapshots. Lip Heong also participates in professional photography workshops to enhance his skills and knowledge.
Today, Lip Heong remains true to his passion for bird as well as landscape photography.
“There are there are many species not captured in my portfolio yet and there is always the thrill of getting a better shot,” shared Lip Heong.
As for landscape, he began to appreciate the complexity of taking landscapes and would like to keep experimenting and learning.

THAILAND

Khun Pattanai Warankanagool, fondly known as Khun ‘P’ enjoys taking portrait photography when he first started taking pictures.
In fact, this is still his favourite subject.
As a Product Support and Trainer for Jebsen & Jessen Marketing in Thailand, Khun P is no stranger in the local photography scene as he gets invitation from the media from print publications, radio and television to talk about the latest products offered by the company. Khun P also provides product training to camera distributors and end users. He has also assisted as photographer for the first “Meet A Need” trip to Melaka, Malaysia in 2007.
His current passion is street photography, capturing street life. He finds that their lives change everyday; a child today will grow and looked different next year.
In addition, Khun P dabbles into landscape and architecture for remembrance.
“Ancient architectures contain old stories and someday the building might undergo changes or even be destroyed. So are landscapes,” said Khun P.

INDONESIA

Indonesia colleagues are in for a real treat.
The workshop will be conducted by Nicko Darwis, a lecturer and professional photographer in Jakarta.
Nicko’s impressive photography portfolio includes wedding, corporate events, official photographer for marketing stock photo, corporate companies and colleges including the Museum Renaissance Blanco, in Ubud, Bali.
In addition, he was the illustrator and artistic designer for ”English Book For Children” by CELL, PT Nusa Groupindo, Sentra Kramat Building, Jakarta and graphic designer for a non-goverment organisation -Centre for Media and Cross Cultural, Studies, Lhokseumawe in Aceh.
Nicko also participated in the ‘Indonesia foto Dialogue with Nature 2006’ exhibition and is a judge for local competitions in Jakarta.
Nicko enjoys taking portrait, models, macro and landscape. Currently, he focuses on portrait, models and lighting techniques as this is also a source of income.
